Take It Off for Jeep’s Go Topless Day

April 13th, 2018 by

Summer is quickly approaching and you know what that means- time to take it off. Jeep’s 9th Annual “Go Topless Day” is Saturday, May 14th, so grab your sunglasses, sunscreen, and (your Jeep’s) bikini top, because you’re about to get some serious sun.

Find a Go Topless Day Event

Go Topless Day is an annual tradition of Jeep owners getting together to celebrate the coming of warm weather and summer adventure. There are many ways to participate, so join your area Jeep club or organization at picnics, beach parties, trail rides and other events. You can find out what options are available in your area on the Go Topless Day web page or the Go Topless Day Facebook page.
Is nothing going on in your area? No worries, you can host your own Go Topless Day Event. Information on how Jeep can help you get started is available on the Go Topless Day page as well.
Before you can join the party though, we are going to have to ask you to take your top off.  Hard top, soft top or bikini top, we don’t care, just take it off.
If this is your first time, here’s what to know:
Starting with the left panel, unclip and move the sun visor out of the way. At the center of the roof panel, you will find L-shaped locks. Turn these, and then turn the rear L-shaped lock located above the shoulder belt anchor. Above the overhead speaker bar assembly you will find the rear fastener knobs. Turn these counter-clockwise until they can be removed. The header panel latch is next. It can be found at the top of the windshield. Unlatch and remove the panel. Repeat these steps on the right panel. Once the panels are off, open both doors and lift off the top.
For soft tops, unclip and move sun visors to access the header latches. Release, but do not unhook the latches from the loops on the windshield frame. Open the Swing Gate and pull out about three inches of both Sail Panels from the body channel of the vehicle on both sides. You can pull down the 3-Bow a bit to make this step easier. Remove the rear window retainers from the swing gate bar brackets. Start on the passenger side and unzip the window completely. Remove the swing gate bar and window by rotating up and pulling straight back from the bar brackets.

Removing Bikini Tops

These are easiest to remove; just detach the straps from where they are attached to the back of the vehicle and the windshield channel and you’re ready to go!
